As result of the 2016 conference at Tilburg University an edited volume has been published by Routledge: Cultural practices of victimhood. The book has been edited by Martin Hoondert, Paul Mutsaers and William Arfman. Check the Routledge website.

TRAINING AND RESEARCH
In January 2019 we have submitted a proposal for a Training and Research Programme regarding practices of memorialization and social reconstruction after large-scale human rights abuses. We have submitted this proposal to the European Union as a Marie Curie ITN proposal (part of Horizon 2020).
PRACMEM is a network of academic and non-academic organizations in which responses to victimization in relation to social reconstruction can be researched and enhanced. An important but inescapable task to victims is to deal with the past. This includes restitution, compensation, rehabilitation, satisfaction and guarantees of non-repetition. PRACMEM focuses on satisfaction, containing, among other things, the right to establish a truth commission, to erect a memorial and to perform rituals. These acts can be summarized as practices of memorialization, covering a range of activities, performances, processes, organizations and material objects. Besides memorials and remembrance days, we see museums, online memorial websites, documentaries, movies and books. Practices of memorialization also include a politics of burial, truth seeking, judicial processes and apologies. Studying these practices demands a broad, interdisciplinary approach, including victimology, ritual studies, memory studies, death studies and political studies.
